Texas man gets 1,000-year sentence for sex abuse of girls
A Texas man was sentenced to 1,000 in prison for sexually abusing his 9- and 10-year-old female relatives, according to Fox 4 News.
Robert Franks, 39, of San Marcos, was convicted on Monday.
The Hays County criminal district attorney's office said the charges were broken down into two counts of continuous sexual abuse, nine counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and six counts of indecency with a child, according to a report from Statesman.com.
According to the district attorney's office, a 9-year-old girl told her father in June 2016 that Franks was doing “disgusting things” to her while she was at Franks’ home. Forensic interviews with the girl showed that Franks would force her and another girl to perform sexual acts on him.
The district attorney's office said that initially the other girl, a 10-year-old, denied having been abused by Franks, but when she was taken to a sexual assault nursing examiner she described previous sexual incidents that showed a pattern of being systematically abused over years.
In a separate hearing, an adult woman accused Franks of sexually abusing her when she was 10 and he was 14. A few years later the woman said the sexual abuse happened again when she was 16 and he was 20, according to the district attorney's office.
Hays County Criminal District Attorney Wes Mau said he hopes Franks' sentencing will send a message that reverberates throughout the state.
“I hope it tells the offenders, this is not a risk you want to take,” said Mau.
