Arrest made in Labor Day shooting in west Fort Worth
Fort Worth police arrested a 38-year-old man Tuesday who faces a murder charge in connection with a shooting Monday in west Fort Worth.
Kevin Parnell was booked into Mansfield Jail Tuesday afternoon, less than a day after Sammie Jones, 28, was shot in the face and killed at a house in the 8000 block of Julie Ave.
Police said the gunman fled Monday after the shooting.
Jones, who was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office Tuesday morning, was pronounced dead on the scene Monday, just after 6:30 p.m. The death was ruled a homicide, caused by a gunshot wound to the face.
Addresses and hometowns were not listed for Parnell on the police report, or for Jones, on the medical examiner’s record. The neighborhood surrounding the area where the shooting took place is about a half-mile from Western Hills Elementary School and Las Vegas Trail.
