A man suspected of pistol-whipping a store clerk during a robbery that was part of a two-week crime spree was arrested Friday, police said.

Anonymous tips from the public led detectives to the suspect, police said in an emailed statement.

Darion David Flowers, 27, faces at least one aggravated-robbery charge.

He is a suspect in holdups at GameStop, 2912 E. Berry St.; Family Dollar, 6677 McCart Ave.; Subway, 3841 E. Loop 820 South; GameStop, 3801 Clifford Center Drive; and Nihal Corner Store, 3501 Miller Ave., according to police. The robberies began March 5.

Flowers was arrested about 4:20 p.m. at the Super 7 Inn in the 4400 block of South Freeway.

Flowers worked with an accomplice, so another arrest is possible, police said.

Detectives were still interviewing Flowers late Friday, and his picture was not available. Bail of $25,000 was recommended, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

His accomplice was described as a black man in his late 20s or early 30s, 6-foot-2 to 6-foot-3, with a medium build.
