Couple found dead in Fort Worth home

An elderly couple were found dead in their home Tuesday morning in southeast Fort Worth in an apparent murder-suicide, police said.

Detectives believe that the 72-year-old husband fatally shot his 76-year-old wife and himself. Police did not release their names.

Officers responded to a shooting call at 6:42 a.m. in the 5100 block of Shackleford Street, a few blocks north of Business 287.

A daughter called 911 to report finding the couple’s bodies, according to a preliminary police report. The shooting occurred overnight in a bedroom, police said.

The husband had been suffering from depression, and his wife had dementia, according to TV news reports citing police at the scene.
