UTA increases patrols in response to gun threat
University of Texas at Arlington police are looking for a man accused of pulling a gun and yelling threats at a female student he followed to campus on Wednesday.
The woman told a police officer that a man followed her vehicle to a university parking lot in the 1100 block of South Cooper Street about 9:15 a.m. The man parked his vehicle and then walked toward her, yelled a threat and then pointed a handgun at her, according to a police bulletin.
The man then left the parking lot in an unknown direction, the bulletin said. Police are investigating all aspects of the incident, said Capt. Mike McCord, UTA police. McCord would not say whether police have been able to obtain any images of the man.
The man was driving a white Ford pickup with a Texas flag on the antenna. Police have increased patrols on campus in response to the report, the bulletin said.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call UTA police at 817-272-3381. University students and staff can also request a security escort at any time by calling the same number.
