Prosper hosts vigil tonight for Texas father, son killed in France attack
The town of Prosper will host a candlelight vigil tonight, honoring the Texas father and son who died in the Nice, France, attack.
Sean, 51, and Brodie, 11, Copeland were among the 84 people killed last week when a truck plowed into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day. The attack also wounded about 202 others. About 85 people remained hospitalized Sunday, and of those, 18 including a child were still in life-threatening condition, Health Minister Marisol Touraine told reporters on a visit to the city.
The vigil will be at 8 p.m. Frontier Park Pavillion in Prosper. Friends of the family have set up a GoFundMe account. By Sunday, it has raised more than $65,000 of its $100,000 goal. The Copelands lived in Lakeway, northwest of Austin.
“We are heartbroken and in shock over the loss of Brodie Copeland, an amazing son and brother who lit up our lives, and Sean Copeland, a wonderful husband and father,” the family said in a statement. “They are so loved.”
