DPS: Suspect shot at Ennis police during chase, officers not injured
A suspect fired shots at an Ennis police officer during a car chase Tuesday morning, a Department of Public Safety spokesman said.
The officer was not injured, and DPS and other authorities were still searching for the suspect Tuesday afternoon.
Ennis police received a 911 call about 7:30 a.m. reporting gunshots in the 400 block of Avenue C. An Ennis officer located the suspect’s vehicle and tried to pull the vehicle over, said Sgt. Lonny Haschel, a DPS spokesman.
The suspect continued driving, leading police south of Ennis before shots were fired from the vehicle at the officer.
The suspect and another person abandoned the vehicle on Ensign Road near Chambers Creek, about 10 miles south of Ennis, Haschel said. Authorities were searching for a man and a woman.
