Hit-and-run motorist sought in damage to Dallas patrol car

An investigation continued Monday into the weekend crash of marked Dallas patrol car that was stationed at the home of slain Dallas officer Patrick Zamarripa.

Police have been searching for a motorist who crashed into the Dallas vehicle.

Police did not release any additional information on Monday on the suspect vehicle or the motorist.

“We will not be releasing any information as of now,” Fort Worth officer Tamara Valle said in a Monday email.

The wreck occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday.

A Dallas patrol car was stationed near Zamarripa’s home to watch over the family when the collision occurred. Two Dallas officers were at the scene, Dallas police said.

No injuries were reported, Fort Worth police said.

Zamarripa was one of four Dallas officers killed by a sniper in Dallas on Thursday night. A DART officer also was killed in the ambush.

The sniper Micah X. Johnson, 25, of Mesquite was killed early Friday in a Dallas parking garage after hours of negotiations failed and police deployed a robot with a bomb that was set off and killed Johnson.
