9-year-old boy drowns in Fort Worth apartment pool, 2 other drowning calls Sunday

A 9-year-old boy drowned in a Fort Worth apartment pool Sunday evening, Fort Worth police said.

Willie Glasper, 9, of Vidalia, Louisiana, was pronounced dead at 6:59 p.m., according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

MedStar was summoned to the Lincoln Meadows apartment complex in southeast Fort Worth a little after 6 p.m. Sunday and took Glasper to Cook Children’s Medical Center, MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said. He died at the hospital.

The boy was one of three pediatric drowning calls MedStar responded to in an eight-hour period Sunday, Zavadsky said.

The first call of the day came shortly after noon, when a 1-year-old boy was transported from the 3300 block of Avenue K to Cook Children’s Medical Center in serious condition, Zavadsky said.

The 9-year-old was the second.

The third call came about an hour later, at a little after 7 p.m., Zavadsky said. A 2-year-old boy was transported from the 2500 block of Via Venicia in critical condition.

The 2-year-old was alive at 8 p.m. Sunday, Fort Worth police spokesman Daniel Segura said in an email.
