What’s open, closed on New Year’s

All nonessential federal, state, county and municipal offices will be closed Thursday for the New Year’s holiday. Banks and stock markets are closed, and the U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail.

No trash/recycling pickup. Pickup will resume on next regularly scheduled day.

Live Christmas trees can be dropped off for recycling at Calloway’s Nursery, 4940 S. Cooper St., and the Arlington Sanitary Landfill, 800 Mosier Valley Road, through Jan. 12. Remove all decorations, lights and tree stands. Trees placed at curbside will be collected as trash. Tree recycling information: 817-459-6777.

Bedford

Thursday trash/recycling pickup shifts to Friday; Friday to Saturday.

Colleyville

Trash/recycling pickup is on a normal schedule.

Thursday trash/recycling pickup shifts to Friday; Friday to Saturday.

Fort Worth

Thursday trash/recycling pickup shifts to Friday; Friday to Saturday. If the trash cart is full, all households are allowed to leave two closed garbage bags outside the cart on the first pickup day after Thursday.

Live Christmas trees can be dropped off for recycling at Mansfield Water Utilities Division, 24 N. Mitchell Road, or Home Depot, 1725 N. U.S. 287, Dec. 29 through Jan. 23. Remove all decorations, lights and tree stands.

North Richland Hills

Saginaw

Thursday trash/recycling pickup shifts to Friday; Friday to Saturday.

Live Christmas trees can be dropped off for recycling at Bicentennial Park, 450 W. Southlake Blvd., through Sunday. Remove all decorations, lights and tree stands.

Public transportation

Today

The Fort Worth Transporation Authority’s regular buses, Mobility Impaired Services (MITS), Molly the Trolley and Trinity Railway Express will follow regular weekday schedules.

The TRE is also offering special late-night trains to and from Fort Worth (from Intermodal Transportation Center 30 minutes after the Sundance Square celebration ends) and Dallas (from Victory Station 20 minutes after fireworks end at Big D NYE).

Thursday

The T will operate a modified Sunday schedule for regular buses, Molly the Trolley and Mobility Impaired Services (MITS). The Trinity Railway Express will not run.

The T will also operate Cowboys Coach bus service from downtown Fort Worth to the Cotton Bowl Classic between Baylor and Michigan State at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Fare is $10 round trip, cash only. The game begins at 11:30 a.m. Riders are asked to board between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. at 200 W. Vickery Blvd., just south of downtown Fort Worth. Parking at the T&P Station is $5, cash only. Shuttles will leave the stadium for one hour after the game ends.
