One suspect killed at Denton college apartments Sunday was a former Euless Trinity football player home for Christmas break.

Terrence Tusan, 22, died of gunshot wounds in the head and neck at 5:48 p.m. Sunday, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Tusan is being called one of three suspects involved in a home invasion robbery at the CastleRock Apartments, 1541 Meadow St. in Denton, according to officer Orlando Hinojosa, a Denton police spokesman. He was a former running back for the Trojans, rushing for more than 2,700 yards and 40 touchdowns in the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Tusan had been home on college break from Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he played football for three seasons.

The other suspect killed in the shooting was Jakobi Gipson, 18, who died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Hinojosa said the three suspects “forced their way” into the apartment where one was shot and killed inside the apartment and the other was shot to death outside.

The two robbery victims were treated and released from the hospital, police said. They are not enrolled at the University of North Texas.

Police found a handgun related to a victim and a handgun related to a suspect at the scene.
