Burleson detective released from hospital
A Burleson police detective shot last week while trying to arrest a bank robbery suspect was released from the hospital Tuesday, in time to spend the holidays with his family.
Detective David Feucht was shot several times Friday while apprehending the 19-year-old suspect, police said. His partner, Detective Nick Grace, had a minor leg wound.
Burleson city spokeswoman Sally Ellertson said Feucht would not be providing a statement Tuesday after his release from John Peter Smith Hospital where he underwent surgery.
Instead she sent a statement that there would be no media interviews with the detectives while the case is under investigation, but that Grace wanted to express his gratitude to the public.
Grace, who had a minor leg wound, was treated and released from the hospital last Friday.
“From my neighbors, to my department, to the city . . . I have received phone calls, text messages, well wishes, and comments on Facebook . . . it has really been wonderful,” Grace said in a prepared statement. “I want everyone to know my family is great and I am great. I have a lot of gratitude for the people of Burleson and all of the different departments that responded.” — Monica S. Nagy
