After over a decade in business, The Basement Lounge in Fort Worth will close on July 31.

In a Facebook post, owners Jesse Meraz and Christopher Neu said that operating costs, rent and insurance increases made it financially impossible to keep the cocktail bar open.

“This was not an easy decision, and it comes after exhausting every available option to keep our doors open. While we are heartbroken to have to close this chapter. We have faith that when one door closes another will open,” the Facebook post read.

The Basement Lounge was known for its craft cocktails, live music and art show pop-ups, and was recently named the Best Lounge in Fort Worth by Fort Worth Magazine. In 2023, the lounge was nominated for Bar of the Year by CultureMap.

“We are incredibly grateful to every guest who descended the stairs, ordered a cocktail, attended an event, supported a local artist, celebrated a milestone, or simply made the basement lounge part of their evening,” the owners wrote on Facebook.
