Parkland Health has been awarded four American Heart Association achievement awards for its dedication to patients.

The American Heart Association awarded the Dallas County public health system four of its Get With The Guidelines achievement awards due to Parkland’s “treatment of heart disease, helping save lives, supporting recovery and reducing hospital readmissions.”

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, according to the American Heart Association’s 2026 Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics Report.

Studies have proven that patients have better outcomes when their care is consistent with evidence based treatment guidelines, according to Parkland Health.

Get With The Guidelines uses the expertise of AHA and American Stroke Association to evaluate hospitals care nationwide.

Parkland Health is a part of the Get With The Guidelines program and received the awards based on its commitment to cardiovascular care.

“Parkland is committed to delivering high-quality care by adhering to the latest treatment guidelines and streamlining processes to ensure timely, appropriate care for heart attacks and strokes,” said Michael Lane, MD, Senior Vice President and Chief Quality & Safety Officer at Parkland.

Parkland received the following awards: Coronary Artery Disease NSTEMI Gold with Target (Type 2 Diabetes), Resuscitation Gold — Patient Population (Pediatric), Resuscitation Target CPR (Adult), Resuscitation Target Survival (Adult), according to a press release from Parkland.

“These awards reflect Parkland’s commitment to caring for people in their community who need cardiovascular care,” said Karen E. Joynt Maddox, MD, MPH, chair of the American Heart Association Quality Oversight Committee. “By following the American Heart Association’s quality improvement protocols, Parkland can help advance our shared vision of better patient outcomes, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates — a win for patients, families and healthcare systems.”
