The Tarrant County Boys & Girls Club has officially joined forces with Clayton Youth Enrichment, according to a press release from The Tarrant County Boys and Girls Club.

Clayton Youth Enrichment is a nonprofit organization based in North Texas that provides resources to students and their families.

The Boys & Girls Club said the merger is meant to“ ensure the long-term viability of affordable, school-based and out-of-school resources for children and teens.”

The merger was approved the week of June 30, after both boards agreed in May it would be beneficial.

“We live in one of the fastest growing regions in the country, and with that comes increased demand for quality childcare, academic support, and youth development,” said Daphne Barlow, Boys & Girls Club Tarrant County CEO and president. “Responding to those critical needs is essential to the health of our community, and this merger will increase our ability to be at the forefront of those efforts.”

Clayton has been serving over 8,000 kids annually and its services will now be managed by the Tarrant County Boys & Girls Club. The services include year-round after school care, school break and summer break camps, and child development centers, according to the press release.

Barlow said the merger will cut costs significantly and create a more “sustainable model” to serve North Texas Families.

“We honor the legacy of Clayton Youth Enrichment and look forward to building on the positive impact the organization has made over the past 50 years,” Barlow said. “As Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County celebrates 100 years of service, this merger is another example of how we are living our mission to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.”
