A child drowned at a North Texas water park on Saturday, May 30, officials said.

The incident happened at the Apex Centre water park at 3003 Alma Road in McKinney, a City of Mckinney spokesperson said in a statement.

“Our thoughts are with the child’s family, loved ones, and all those affected by this heartbreaking event,” the statement read. “We also recognize the impact this tragedy has had on all involved in the response, and we are ensuring that support resources are available to those affected.”

The investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding the drowning is ongoing, officials said. The child’s age and further details were not released.
