Aledo Middle School eighth-grader killed in ATV accident Wednesday night
A 14-year-old Aledo ISD student was killed Wednesday night in an ATV accident, according to the school district and social media posts from community leaders.
The student, identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 14-year-old Brayden Patrick Martin, was an eighth-grader at Aledo Middle School and died after being thrown off the ATV, according to social media posts.
“The loss of any member of a community is painful, but the loss of a young man with such a bright future is especially difficult to comprehend,” Aledo Mayor Shane Davis wrote on Facebook. “There are no words that can truly ease this kind of grief.”
Martin played at shortstop with the North Texas Wildcatters Baseball organization, a coach wrote on Facebook.
“Brayden Martin was not only our SS and bulldog, he was a ray of sunlight that radiated on everyone around him,” coach Mike Eggleton wrote. “Please please pray for the Martin Family and his teammates, as neither a family or a 14 year old baseball team should go through this. We love you B Mar, you can never replaced.”
Officials with the Aledo Independent School District said in a statement Thursday, “We are incredibly saddened that one of our Bearcats from Aledo Middle School, eighth grader Brayden Martin, died Wednesday evening in an accident. As a community, we share our most sincere condolences with Brayden’s family, his friends and classmates, and the staff who have served Brayden in Aledo ISD.”
“As today was the last day of school, we had extra support at Aledo Middle School this morning for our students and staff,” school officials said. “We have asked our entire community to pray for Brayden’s family, friends and teachers.”
The Parker County Sheriff’s Office is handling the accident investigation.
