An Aledo school district student riding an electric bike was injured after a crash with a vehicle on Monday afternoon, officials said.

The middle schooler was riding the e-bike in the back parking lot at Stuard Elementary School when they were hit by a vehicle, an Aledo ISD spokesperson said in a statement. Monday was a teacher work day and student holiday in the district.

The student was conscious after the accident and flown to the Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth for treatment, the spokesperson said.

“We’ll be here in full support as a district and community as the student recovers,” according to the statement. The school district is working with law enforcement to investigate the incident.”
