A 27-year-old man who returned alone to a boat at a marina dock on Grapevine Lake died on Sunday after divers pulled him from the water, authorities said.

Jai Sharma and other people with whom he had been boating were at the Twin Coves Marina and were on the dock when Sharma went back to the boat, according to a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department account that the agency attributed to witnesses.

Members of the group heard a splash. When they were unable to find Sharma, they called 911 about 9:10 p.m.

Grapevine Fire Department divers were in the water by 9:30 p.m. and found Sharma about 9:50 p.m., according to the Flower Mound Fire Department.

Sharma was pronounced dead at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Grapevine.

Texas Game Wardens in Denton County are investigating the death.
