One person was injured in a fire at a ChampionX facility in Crowley on Monday morning, officials said.

First responders responded to a report of an explosion in the 900 block of North Crowley Road at about 5:45 a.m. Monday, said city spokesman Jay Hinton. One person was reported injured with burns to the arms and torso, and was transported via helicopter to Parkland Hospital in Dallas in stable condition.

A spokesman for ChampionX said an industrial furnace caught fire, injuring an employee. He said the incident was contained “without harm to the plant or surrounding area.”

“Our thoughts are with the injured employee and their loved ones during this challenging time,” the spokesman said in an email. “We are working closely with local authorities as they investigate the cause of the incident. Similarly, we are conducting our own internal investigation into the matter. At this stage, those investigations are ongoing.”

According to the company’s website, ChampionX “is a global leader in chemistry programs and services, artificial lift solutions, automation and optimization equipment, and drilling technologies for the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry.”
