Motorcyclist trying to evade police dies in crash, authorities say
A motorcyclist trying to evade Bedford police died in a crash Saturday afternoon.
Bedford police tried to stop a motorcyclist after observing multiple traffic violations about 3:35 p.m. near Harwood Road and Texas 121, but the man fled, police said in a news release.
The motorcycle entered the Bedford Linear Park walking trail near Harwood Road.
“Out of an abundance of caution for possible pedestrians on the trail, officers discontinued the pursuit and turned off emergency lights and sirens,” police said.
Shortly afterward, a 911 caller reported a crashed motorcycle near the Bedford Linear Park trail and Willow Bend, police said.
Police said, officers responded and determined the motorcycle involved was the same one that had previously evaded police.
Officers immediately rendered medical aid to the rider, a 35-year-old man, who was taken to a local hospital where he later died, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
The man who died will be identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office after next of kin have been notified.
