A man was shot by Irving police officer on Saturday, Aug 9, after he refused to comply with orders, Irving police said in a news release.

Officers were notified of a suspicious person in the 1400 block of N. Nursery Road, at about 3:30 a.m., police said.

When officers arrived, they contacted the reporting party and began searching the surrounding area, police said.

Police said officers found the suspect, 25-year-old Arlington Fuentes-Murillo, armed with a gun shortly after the search.

An officer shot Fuentes-Murillo at least once after he refused to comply with orders, police said.

Officers provided life-saving measures until Irving Fire medics arrived. Fuentes-Murillo was taken to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition, police said.

Fuentes-Murillo will face a charge of aggravated assault on a public servant, police said.
