Ava Moore’s funeral scheduled at Fort Worth church with full military honors

Funeral services have been announced for 18-year-old Ava Moore, who was killed when a jet ski collided with her kayak in a hit-and-run crash at Grapevine Lake on Memorial Day weekend.

Moore’s funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at The Met Church, at 11301 N. Riverside Drive in Fort Worth.

Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force at the end of the service, and will take place outside the church.

Ava Moore had returned to North Texas to spend time with her family before beginning basic training at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs as part of its Class of 2029. Moore was killed Sunday, May 25, when her kayak was hit by a jet ski on Grapevine Lake, authorities said.

Moore, a 2024 graduate of Timber Creek High School in Keller ISD, played basketball at the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School. She graduated from the preparatory school May 19 and was scheduled to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy as part of its Class of 2029.
