A Mansfield man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on a charge of producing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas said.

Keevon Carter-Hickmon, 30, was indicted and pleaded guilty to the charge in January, according to a statement. He was sentenced on Friday, May 2, by Judge Reed O’Connor in Fort Worth.

Carter-Hickmon admitted to driving to a middle school to pick up a minor, with whom he had been communicating online for several months, officials said.

After picking up the child, Carter-Hickmon drove to an Arlington motel, where he sexually abused the child, according to the statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

During the encounter, Carter-Hickmon recorded and later distributed sexual images of the child online, officials said.

While awaiting trial on state charges, Carter-Hickmon solicited and received more sexual material from another child over the internet, according to the statement.

According to Tarrant County court records, he still faces state charges including trafficking a child, sexual assault of a child and online solicitation of a minor. His next hearing in Tarrant County court is scheduled for May 12.

Agencies involved in the investigation of the case included the Arlington, Stephenville and Mansfield police departments, as well as the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security, authorities said.
