One Plano restaurant was temporarily closed and rodents and roaches were found at two others, according to a report from the city’s latest round of health inspections.

The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains city data from March 16 through March 29 and 146 inspections.

Plano’s restaurant inspections function on a 100-point system, with a score of 100 considered to be perfect and a score of 70 considered to be extremely poor.

Each restaurant receives between one and four inspections per year.

Lapana Asian Cuisine, 2380 East Park Blvd., was closed and its permit suspended after restaurant owners failed to install a hand sink in a warewashing area, according to the report.

The issue was first cited three months ago and restaurant operators agreed to a March 8 deadline for installing the sink, according to the report.

Restaurant owners had not applied for the necessary permit to start the work prior to the deadline, so the restaurant was closed due to public health concerns, the report states.

Rodent droppings were found at two restaurants:

  1. Plano Subzi Mandi, 6921 Independence Parkway, had a score of 73. The restaurant was also cited for improper food storage temperatures and lack of temperature records.
  2. Cafe Gecko, 1410 Ave. K, had a score of 76.

Roaches were observed at Taiwan Cafe, 2747 W. 15th St. Overall, the restaurant had a score of 88.

33 follow-up inspections were performed during this inspection period, according to the report.
