Dive teams find body of missing man whose kayak capsized at Benbrook Lake

Dive teams recovered the body of a man whose kayak capsized at Benbrook Lake on Saturday afternoon.

The body of 36-year-old Robert Eugene Jones was found on Sunday afternoon, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Game wardens and local fire department responded to a report that the kayaker was missing shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Authorities began searching the water for Jones on Saturday and resumed on Sunday morning, with the Texas Game Warden Underwater Search and Recovery Team used advanced sonar technology.

This is the second time this month that a kayaker has gone missing and died at Benbrook Lake. On March 20, searchers recovered the body of 18-year-old Boswell High School senior Luke Nickens, who drowned after a kayak accident.
