Viral video shows man keying Tesla parked in Dallas-Fort Worth Airport lot
A viral video that shows a man keying a Tesla parked at DFW Airport has attracted attention across social media, including from the son of President Donald Trump.
The owner of the Tesla, Dallas resident Jeff Nguyen, told KTVT-TV that he parked his car on the top floor of the Terminal A parking garage at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport around 11 a.m. on March 13.
Later that day, the built-in cameras on the Tesla captured a man keying the vehicle and leaving a deep scratch on its side, Nguyen told the North Texas CBS station.
“I just bought it because it was an electric car,” Nguyen said. “This one is pretty fun to drive. It has really just nothing to do with politics or anything like that.”
Nguyen shared video and screenshots of the vandalism on social media including Facebook and X, asking people to help identify the man. The video had more than 2 million views on Facebook. He said he also filed a police report.
Donald Trump Jr. was among those who retweeted an image of the man suspected of keying the car.
The FBI’s Dallas Field Office did not immediately respond to a request to verify whether it is investigating the incident, as some posters claimed on social media. In response to a reporter’s request for information, DFW Airport police said to submit a records request for the incident report.
Tesla has been targeted by protests and vandalism since company CEO Elon Musk began leading the Department of Government Efficiency, which has overseen budget cuts and layoffs under the Trump administration.
Trump administration officials have said that attacks against Tesla should be considered domestic terrorism.
The FBI, ATF and local police are among agencies investigating a possible arson case in which two Cybertrucks caught fire at a dealership in Kansas City, and an incident in Las Vegas where a man shot several Teslas and set the vehicles on fire, authorities said.
