This North Texas suburb is the second-best in the country, according to new study

Carillon Parc will finally be constructed on an empty field near the intersection of North White Chapel Boulevard and State Highway 114 in Southlake. The European-style mixed-use development will include shops, restaurants, a hotel, single-family homes and more.

Researchers at ViewHomes Team recently ranked Southlake the second-best suburb in the U.S.

The ranking from the Canadian real estate firm is based on 12 key factors with data from the U.S. Census Bureau on housing market conditions, crime rates, median income, education levels, employment rates, and even the number of sunny days per year. Vienna, Va. was the top-ranked suburb on the list.

Southlake was not the only North Texas suburb that made the list. Colleyville is ranked at No. 36 and Grand Prairie ranked at No. 37. And University Park, home to Southern Methodist University, came in at No. 49.

Southlake is only a 30 minute drive from Fort Worth. What makes this suburb worth living in?

According to researchers at ViewHomes, Southlake is “an attractive choice” due to its weather, top-tier schools and housing market.

The study, using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, reports that Southlake has:

  • Median rent: $2,518

  • Median Housing Market: $1.2 million

  • Crime per 100k residents: 1,266

  • Median income: $250,000

  • Percentage of residents with bachelors degree: 74

  • Employment percentage: 58

  • Percent without healthcare coverage plans: 2

  • Poverty percentage: 2

  • Average commuting minutes: 26

  • Percentage of those who walk to work: 0.1

  • Sunny days in the year: 233
