Teen fleeing Saginaw police jumps fence, gets electrocuted, officials say
A teenager was injured when he was shocked at a power supply terminal in Saginaw while running away from police on Saturday afternoon, officials with the Saginaw Police Department said.
Officers responded to a disturbance call in the 1000 block of Union Drive at around 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, after receiving reports of a person threatening to harm himself, officials said.
Officers found the juvenile on Grand Central Parkway around 4 p.m. and he then fled from officers on foot, according to a statement.
While fleeing, the teen jumped over a concrete security fence into the power supply terminal, at which point he was electrocuted and a fire started, police said.
Officers extinguished the fire and called for medical assistance, according to the statement.
The teen, who was not publicly identified, was flown to Parkland Hospital in Dallas for treatment of his burns and his condition was unknown, police said.
