Two people are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in Crowley on Jan. 13, officials with the Crowley Police Department said on Facebook.

Officers responded to a welfare check call at a residence in the 700 block of Liberty Lane at around 7:30 p.m. Monday, officials said.

Police were not able to contact anyone inside the residence, but later observed a vehicle leaving, officials said.

Officers made a traffic stop in the 900 block of Rendon Crowley Road, and the male driver shot himself with a handgun as police approached the vehicle, officials said.

Upon investigation, police found a deceased woman at home on the Liberty Lane, according to the Facebook post.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman who died as 65-year-old Carrol Denell Bogan of Crowley and ruled her death a homicide. An autopsy is pending to determine her cause of death.

The incident presented no threat to the public and no officers fired their weapons, Crowley police officials said.
