Two North Texas cities issue notices to boil water
Two North Texas cities issued notices that residents need to boil their water after water lines broke this week.
The City of Boyd reported a loss of pressure in its water system after a line break at North Wilson and North FM 730 on Monday evening, Dec. 2.
The boil water notice will be in effect until the city gets results from a lab. Updates will be posted on the city’s website and social media accounts.
In the City of Ennis, an 8-inch water main broke on Saturday, Nov 30, at the intersection of I-45 and Highway 34, according to a statement on the city’s website.
In an update at Tuesday’s Ennis City Commission meeting, the mayor said city officials were notified on the night of Dec. 3 by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality that initial test results came back negative for contaminants in the water supply.
But a pressure sample at one location showed a reading below the required minimum, and as a precautionary measure, another water sample was taken and resubmitted for testing. The city is awaiting results of the additional test and said updates will be provided as soon as more information is available.
