One person killed in fiery car crash on Loop 820 in Fort Worth on Saturday

One person was killed after a car flipped and caught fire on Southwest Loop 820 in Fort Worth on Saturday, officials with the Fort Worth Police Department said.

Officers responded to the scene in the 100 block of Loop 820 freeway at around 12:40 p.m. Saturday, officials said.

Fort Worth fire crews and medical personnel also responded to the scene and confirmed that one passenger of the vehicle was trapped inside and deceased, according to the police department.

Further details on the cause of the crash were not immediately available Saturday evening.

The crash is under investigation by the Fort Worth Police Department’s traffic unit, officials said.

The deceased will be identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been notified.
