Bishop T.D. Jakes, the lead pastor at The Potter’s House Church in Dallas, is recovering after suffering a medical emergency at the end of Sunday’s service.

“I give thanks unto the Lord that I did not have a stroke, however the event could’ve been fatal if it weren’t for God’s intervention,” the 67-year-old said Wednesday on X.

Jakes thanked those who’ve prayed for him and reached out following the Nov. 24 incident. He also expressed gratefulness to the medical professionals “whose speed and expertise were beyond exceptional.”

Video posted on X Sunday shows Jakes freezing and lowering his microphone while giving a prayer, then being surrounded by people.

Church leaders said in a statement that Jakes “experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message.”

The cause of the incident wasn’t revealed, and Jakes didn’t give a timeline for his recovery.

Jakes founded The Potter’s House in 1996, according to its website. The church now has over 30,000 members.
