Weather factor in crash that caused Amazon truck to fall over North Texas bridge: officials

A North Texas highway was closed down for several hours early Tuesday due to an 18-wheeler hanging off an overpass near downtown Dallas, officials said.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office posted about the accident on social media at 11:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4.

Photos show an Amazon tractor-trailer jackknifed on Interstate 345, the elevated freeway that connects I-45 to U.S. Highway 75. The guardrail on the bridge is broken, and about half of the trailer is seen hanging off the overpass.

The road has since reopened.

A Dallas County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson said it’s believed that the truck driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed due to weather conditions.

The bridge wall was damaged in the accident, but no injuries were reported, according to the spokesperson.
