An accident early Tuesday morning claimed the life of a 75-year-old woman who was ejected from her vehicle during the crash in the 1800 block of Interstate 35W in Burleson, according to police.

The Burleson Police Department responded to the scene about 12:45 a.m.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle left the interstate, re-entered and then left the roadway again, resulting in a rollover, police said. During the rollover, the driver was ejected from the vehicle and struck by a southbound 18-wheeler.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Authorities said they shut down all lanes of I-35W in both directions near the accident site, about a mile south of Hidden Creek, to manage the scene and ensure public safety. Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes.

According to updates from the Texas Department of Transportation, at 6:39 a.m. northbound lanes of I-35W were reopened. An hour later, southbound lanes began reopening as crews picked up cones and cleared the area, TxDOT said.

The Burleson Police Department confirmed that all lanes have been reopened.

The accident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances leading to the crash.
