Two people are dead after a plane crash in McKinney on Thursday morning, Star-Telegram news partner WFAA reported.

The crash happened near County Road 317, south of McKinney National Airport, at about 10:30 a.m.

Three people were aboard the plane. The third person, who did not die, was taken to Parkland Hospital in critical condition, WFAA reported.

McKinney police told WFAA that the Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash along with the FAA and NTSB. The plane appeared to crash into a mound of dirt and gravel at a facility south of the airport. Multiple fire crews responded to the scene.

On Friday DPS identified the deceased as pilot Michael Lewis, 67, of Forney, and Gustavo Moreno, 53, of Royse City. Lewis’ wife, Amanda, is a former Forney mayor.

The twin-engine Cessna 414A was owned by the nonprofit organization Hunger Relief Ministries in Forney, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
