A new homemade ice cream shop opening in North Texas later this week is giving customers a chance to get free frozen treats for an entire year.

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream is opening in Arlington on April 4 at 4407 Little Road. The shop will be open Monday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

To celebrate the opening, Handel’s is offering the first 100 guests free ice cream for an entire year. The lucky winners will have plenty of flavors to choose from, including salty caramel truffle, black cherry, coffee chocolate chip and more.

Vanessa and Deric Sheriff are the franchisees for the new Arlington store and have been in the community for years. According to Handel’s, Deric has been an Arlington police officer for 22 years, while Vanessa was an Arlington paramedic for 15 years.

Handel’s serves ice cream in everything from cones and dishes, to pints and quarts. Milkshakes, banana splits and sundaes round out its sweet menu. The Ohio-based company began in 1945 and now has locations in over a dozen states.

In Texas alone, Handel’s has locations in Austin, Flower Mound, Highland Village, Katy, Little Elm, McKinney, Plano, San Antonio, Southlake and Spring. Handel’s Southlake location opened last summer at 2645 E. Southlake Blvd.
