A man died from injuries he sustained in a Grand Prairie house fire Monday night, the Grand Prairie Fire Department said in a news release Tuesday.

At around 6:15 p.m. Monday, the fire department responded to a structure fire in the 3600 block of Park Ridge Drive.

Upon arrival, firefighters found flames coming from a single-story home and quickly began a search for a resident who was reportedly trapped, according to the release.

Firefighters found the man in a bedroom and took him to a local hospital in critical condition. He died at the hospital.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the man’s identity once next of kin have been notified.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
