The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what happened Tuesday afternoon when a contractor hanging a sign was electrocuted and killed, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies and paramedics responded around 1 p.m. to the 12000 block of Camp Bowie Boulevard West to find that the contractor had been using a metal scissor lift to measure a sign when the lift came into contact with a power line and was electrocuted, according to the sheriff’s office.

The contractor was taken to a local hospital before he was transported to the burn unit at Dallas’ Parkland Hospital, where he died.

The name of the contractor has not been released. The sheriff’s office said in the news release it is investigating what happened leading up to the electrocution but has not indicated that investigators suspect any foul play.
