Tri-County Electric Co-Op CEO Darryl Schriver has been terminated from his position, a spokesperson for the company confirmed to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram via email Wednesday.

Schriver had previously been placed on administrative leave by the company’s Board of Directors “pending a review of information,” according to a July 27 email obtained by Star-Telegram.

It’s unclear what information about Schriver was being reviewed. A spokesperson would not disclose specifics, citing a “personnel matter.” The board began review in June and concluded it days ago, that same spokesperson said.

“After a thorough and thoughtful review, the Board concluded that it is in the best interests of the co-op and its members to begin a search for a new CEO,” Tri-County board chair Max Waddell wrote in a statement given to the Star-Telegram by a spokesperson. “We appreciate the contributions Darryl has made to our cooperative during his tenure with us.”

Schriver has been CEO of the co-op since May 2017 after serving as its executive vice president and manager, according to his online résumé.

Tri-County Electric, which is based in Aledo, provides electricity services to 16 Texas counties mostly in the northern and western portions of the state.

When reached by the Star-Telegram via phone Wednesday afternoon, Schriver forwarded a reporter to his attorney because he wasn’t sure if speaking to the press was in violation of his leave. Schriver’s attorney, Jay Aldis, did not immediately return a phone call and text for comment.

The electric company’s board will hold elections in September.
