When will it rain again in the Dallas-Fort Worth area? Here’s record for area dry streaks

This summer is one of the warmest and driest on record for the Fort Worth area.

There have been 23 100-degree days so far this summer for the Fort Worth area — the “normal” number of 100-degree days is nine, according to the National Weather Service. The record for 100 degree days is 44 days which happened in 1980.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth ranked this year sixth for lowest precipitation totals between June 1 to July 31.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area received 1.25 inches of rain in the last two months. The record for lowest precipitation between June 1 to July 31 happened in 1934 with 0.08 inches of rain.

When can we expect rain in North Texas?

There is no rain in the forecast this week in the Fort Worth area.

Last year, June 4 to Aug. 9 ranked second for most consecutive days without measurable precipitation. Between that time, from June 18 to July 20, there were 33 days without any precipitation, according to weather service data.

Last year Sep. 5 to Oct. 10 ranked seventh for most days without any precipitation.
