Sweltering temperatures will continue over North Texas this weekend and into next week, with 105 degrees in the forecast to start next week.

The high for Friday will be 101 degrees and the temperature will gradually increase over the weekend, said Sarah Barnes, meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.

Saturday looks to be 102 degrees, followed by 104 on Sunday and 105 degrees on both Monday and Tuesday.

The only slightly positive thing is the heat index will only be a couple degrees higher than the actual outside temperature, Barnes said. But other than that, there isn’t much relief in sight from the heat.

“We’re pretty much in the doldrums of summer,” Barnes said. “That’s what we call it.”

As of Friday, North Texas has recorded 19 days over triple digits this year. The hottest day of the year was on July 18 with a scorching temperature of 108 degrees.
