Man killed when motorcycle crashes on highway overpass in Grapevine, police say

Police are investigating the death of a motorcyclist in Grapevine in the early hours of Saturday morning, according to a news release.

Officers responded to Interstate 635 at the exit to southbound Texas 121 around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Grapevine police. A witness told police that the man on the motorcycle hit a retaining wall and was ejected from the motorcycle on the overpass, which is north of Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. His body was found in a creek bed below and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

When police arrived, the motorcycle’s gas tank was on fire, according to the news release. The overpass was shut down for about three hours and fire crews extinguished the flames.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the motorcyclist’s identity after next-of-kin have been notified.
