High of 105 is the Sunday forecast for Fort Worth, ‘and it’s not really going to go away’
Storms are in the forecast for North Texas Friday, but after that it will be back to the wicked hot summer temperatures, said Monique Sellers, meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.
It will be another warm weekend in Fort Worth with temperatures expected to be in the low 100 degrees.
“Unfortunately, the heat is here and it’s not really going to go away too much,” Sellers said.
The high for Saturday is 101 degrees, followed by 105 on Sunday. There isn’t much relief going into next week, with Monday at 102 and Tuesday at 104 degrees.
The source of the stifling heat is a large high pressure heat dome aloft that is centered over central Mexico, Victor Murphy, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Fort Worth said.
None of the temperatures in the next few days will be breaking records, in fact, the official weather site at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport hasn’t hit triple digits yet, Sellers said. The airport site is the official record keeping station for North Texas and has only hit 99 degrees thus far.
The heat index for this weekend and going into next week could be anywhere from 104 to 114 degrees. However, the humidity will be lower than it was at the start of this week.
“It may just feel a little less sauna like,” Sellers said.
