Teresa Taylor died on Sunday from complications of lung disease, according to a post by her former band, the Butthole Surfers.

The drummer was born in Arlington in 1962. She was also known as “Teresa Nervosa.” Taylor got her start drumming in various marching bands in Austin and Fort Worth.

She also had a small acting career. Most notably, she had a part in Texas director Richard Linklater’s “Slacker.” She can also be seen in Alex Winter’s short film “Bar-B-Que Movie” and “The Butthole Surfers Movie.”

Fellow drummer “King” Coffey was from Fort Worth, where the two drummed alongside each other.

Last September, Coffey posted a heartfelt tweet about Taylor.

More praise for the drummer came in via Twitter.

She was a ‘90s icon.
