Two people were killed Friday evening in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 in western Tarrant County, officials said.

Deputies were dispatched to the 11500 block of I-20 West around 6 p.m. regarding a major accident, according to a news release from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. When they arrived they found that two vehicles had crashed into each other. Good Samaritans were performing CPR on two victims, but both died at the scene, the release said.

Accident investigators are trying to determine what caused the crash, officials said.

The westbound lanes of I-20 at Markum Ranch Road were shut down for a time, and drivers were advised to seek alternate routes, according to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office had not publicly identified the victims as of Saturday afternoon.
