Pilot, passenger seriously injured in Wise County plane crash
A pilot and passenger were seriously injured when a small plane crashed Wednesday evening in Wise County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The 1992 Aero Vodochody L-139, owned by Veruca Salt LLC, crashed about 6:30 p.m. along U.S. 380 near Bridgeport, DPS said in a news release.
The pilot, 62-year-old Dianna Stanger, of Washington, Texas, was in critical condition. She was flown by medical helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
The passenger, Thomas Charles, 58, of Niceville, Florida, was in serious condition. He was taken by ambulance to Medical City Denton hospital.
The preliminary investigation indicates the aircraft took off from Perot Field/Fort Worth Alliance and was headed to Bridgeport Municipal Airport when it crashed in a field.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have taken over the investigation.
