Uniform change for White Settlement police will include western-style hats

Police Chief Christopher Cook has authorized all White Settlement police officers to wear western-style hats as part of a new uniform change.

“Many people are not aware of the historical significance of our community with the early pioneers settling along the Farmers Branch Creek around 1838,” said Cook in a news release. “The western-style hats also protect officers from the harmful sun rays and can provide shelter from other weather elements. They also are a great addition to the police uniform in Texas.”

Each officer is authorized to wear straw western-style hats during the warmer seasons and black felt hats during the cooler seasons.

Lazy J Ranch Wear, a Texan apparel store in Fort Worth, was chosen as the business location to produce the hats for the officers.

“We are grateful for the community support that assisted our team in this endeavor. The feedback from officers and our community members has been overwhelmingly positive,” Cook said. “We are a suburb of Fort Worth and this region certainly has a lot of western culture and history.”
