One person was injured after a house caught fire in Grand Prairie over the weekend, according to the Grand Prairie Fire Department.

At around 3:20 p.m. Saturday, fire crews responded to a structure fire in the 3300 block of Country Club Drive.

When crews arrived, they were met with heavy smoke and fire.

Firefighters tried to control the fire from inside the house but “went defensive” due to the condition of the home and the amount of fire, the fire department said.

One person was transported to a hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. A photo posted on social media by the fire department shows the home was heavily damaged.
