West 7th Street pub makes way for new bar in Fort worth. Here’s where they’re going
A Fort Worth pub and restaurant in the West 7th Street area is relocating, but isn’t going far.
Trinity College Irish Pub will move into a building next door to its current location later this year. The pub, which opened in summer 2020, will have a new address at 908 Currie St.
“It’s not that we’re downsizing, but we’re gonna have a bigger footprint,” pub owner Alan Kearney said.
With several pubs under his belt, Kearney said Trinity College’s new location has been “the most expensive storage unit in DFW” over the last few years. He said he has used the space to store items from his other business ventures. Over the next few months, the back building will transform into the Irish pub’s new space, which also includes patio space.
Having received several offers over the years for Trinity College’s real estate, Kearney decided to hedge his bet and move into the building next door. Fort Worth has been good to the pub and Kearney said he’s happy the business will continue in the trendy West 7th Street entertainment district.
Another factor for the shift is the neighborhood has morphed into a more nightclub scene which Trinity College is not, Kearney said.
“I think it’s going to be able to fit into the area a little bit better than what we originally had put there, like this big sprawling sort of restaurant,” Kearney said. “We’re still staying there, but it’s just that we sold the corner and that’s it.”
The old space on 910 Currie St. won’t stay vacant long with Wonder Bar moving in later this year.
Wonder Bar is described as an interactive and imaginative bar that features unique art installations. Wonder Bar has three Texas locations in Austin, Dallas and Houston.
Brian DonCarlos with Prologue Architects confirmed to the Star-Telegram that Wonder Bar was moving into Trinity College Irish Pub’s old location.
Renovations on the space are set to get underway next month, according to an architectural filing with the state of Texas. The renovations are expected to be completed in late August, but no opening date has been announced for Wonder Bar.
